Description
Tim Nguyen has been an artist all his life. He has been drawing since childhood and graduated college with an art degree from The University of Hanoi in Vietnam.
Tim escaped Vietnam after the Vietnam war and was one of the boat people. He landed in Oklahoma and began his new journey as an artist there taking on odd jobs such as a sign painter and whatever else he could find. He met his wife there, also Vietnamese, and they ended up in California with 3 kids.
At some point they all took a vacation to Hawaii and Tim fell in love with the islands, as many artists do. He took a gamble and moved his family here with the promise that if he could not make it as an artist in five years time, he would move his family back to California. The wife and kids were not happy with the move.
Around the fourth year he was still struggling as an artist and had more odd jobs like driving Taxi. When not busy he would park his taxi and draw the local scenery. At some point he began painting his drawings using warm Hawaiian colors and suddenly his art began to sell to the locals and the tourists. His background in painting was abstract figurative and he incorporated the Hawaiian people and landscape into his work.
Today Tim Nguyen is highly collected and represented by several galleries. His work hangs in hotels, business’s, and many private collections.
